No need for added sugar in this peachy Aqua Fresca – ripe peaches combine with tangy limes, mint and white peony tea for an uplifting fruity drink without the sugar crash.
Ripe peaches are naturally sweet and full of juicy flavor. Because of their sweetness, there’s no need to add extra sugar. Instead, a small amount of monk fruit sweetener is added to balance the tangy flavor of lime juice and help prevent the ice from watering down the sweetness. Monk fruit sweetener is naturally sweet while being very low glycemic. This sweetener comes in especially handy for those looking to reduce their intake of high glycemic sugars. Monk fruit sweetener can be used in recipes for desserts, pancakes and beverages. It has a slightly bitter aftertaste, so adjust the amount used according to your preferences.
White Peony Tea with Powerful Antioxidants
White peony tea might sound delicate, but it actually contains powerful catechins with loads of immune system-supporting antioxidants. This is because white tea isn’t oxidized as much as green or black tea, preserving more catechins. Consuming tea that is high in catechins can help fight free radical damage and repair cells.
The floral notes in this tea stand out and pair well with the ripe peach flavor and aroma. A medium level of caffeine helps support alertness and focused energy without the jitters of coffee.
Because these tea crystals dissolve in cold water, there’s no steeping required, making this beverage ideal for days when you’re short on time.
If your peaches aren’t ripe yet, set them on the counter for 1-2 days before using. Frozen peaches can also be used in a pinch.
