Reishi: The Zen Mushroom

Reishi is an adaptogenic mushroom that has long been touted for its ability to calm the nervous system, making life’s stressors easier to handle. Reishi mushrooms also contain antioxidants that help support the immune system. Because of its stress-curbing abilities, reishi is also a welcome addition to a nightly routine for sleep support. The flavor of Reishi is smooth, earthy, and toasty. If you find that coffee gives you a case of the jitters, switching to Reishi or mushroom tea, in general, can be a great swap. 

To keep the relaxation going, lavender buds are added to the smoothie. A little bit goes a long way in adding signature floral lavender flavor and aroma. Blueberries add a vibrant purple hue to the smoothie along with antioxidants and vitamin-C. These properties help aid the immune system and fight free radical damage. 

Other berries that work well in this smoothie include:

  • Blackberries 
  • Raspberries 
  • Strawberries 

Frozen banana adds natural sweetness and icy texture to the smoothie with potassium and fiber. The addition of banana also helps thicken the smoothie for increased satiety. For a thinner less sweet smoothie, use half a banana instead.

Ingredients

  • 1 small frozen banana
  • 1 1/2 cups unsweetened almond milk
  • 1/2 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
  • 1 sachet Pique Reishi Calm Elixir
  • 1/8 tsp dried lavender buds

Instructions

  • Combine ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth and creamy. Pour into a 16-ounce glass and enjoy right away.
